Accounts and users
alallo accounts
An alallo account is the workspace that owns your jobs, uploaded files, models and token balance. Every person who signs up with "Sign up free" gets a new alallo account and becomes its owner (root user). To work together in one account, the account owner invites colleagues as users of the same account instead of each person signing up separately.
User roles in an alallo account
An alallo account has two user roles:
| What the user can do | Root (account owner) | Member |
|---|---|---|
| See all jobs and uploaded files of the account | Yes | Yes |
| Upload files and start jobs | Yes | Yes |
| Cancel jobs they started | Yes | Yes |
| Cancel jobs other users started | Yes | No |
| Top up the token balance | Yes | No |
| Invite, remove and change the role of users | Yes | No |
An alallo account can have more than one root user. Your email address and role are shown in the top bar of the dashboard.
Inviting a user to an alallo account
The account owner (root user) invites a user by email address and chooses the role, root or member (member is the default). alallo creates the new user's login and emails them a temporary password. When they sign in, they join your account. [TBD: where user management is in the dashboard; it is currently available through the alallo API only.]
Why an alallo invite can fail
An invite fails with "this email already has a login (in this or another account)" when the email address already belongs to an alallo user. One login belongs to exactly one alallo account. [TBD: how a person who already signed up on their own can move to a colleague's account.]
Changing a user's role in an alallo account
The account owner (root user) can change any user's role between root and member. A root user cannot demote themselves; the message is "another root has to change your role". Role changes take effect immediately, from the user's next action in the dashboard.
Removing a user from an alallo account
The account owner (root user) can remove a user from the account. Removing a user also deletes that user's alallo login. A root user cannot remove themselves ("you can't remove yourself"). Removal takes effect immediately; a removed user who is still signed in sees "your access to this account has changed; sign in again". [TBD: what happens to running jobs and uploaded files of a removed user; they stay in the account by design, confirm.]
Using alallo without an account
Visitors who are not signed in can browse the alallo dashboard: the models, the training methods and their settings, and time and price estimates for public Hugging Face datasets. Uploading files and starting jobs require an account; those actions take the visitor to sign-up.
Signing in and out of alallo
Use "Sign in" in the dashboard's top bar to sign in, and "Sign out" next to your email address to sign out. If the dashboard says "account not set up yet; sign in again", sign out and sign in again. [TBD: password reset and two-factor sign-in options.]
Using the alallo API
Everything in the alallo dashboard is also available through the alallo API, with the same permissions as the dashboard. [TBD: whether the API is offered to customers, and how to get API credentials.]
