Cancelling jobs and refunds
How to cancel an alallo job
Open the Jobs tab in the alallo dashboard, select the job and click "Cancel job". The button is shown while the job's status is "queued" or "running". After you cancel, the job's status changes to "cancelling" and then to "cancelled" once training has stopped. If the job changed at the same moment, the dashboard says "the job changed meanwhile; try again".
Who can cancel an alallo job
The user who started an alallo job can cancel it, and the account owner (root user) can cancel any job in the account. Other members of the account cannot cancel jobs they did not start; they see the message "only whoever started this job, or the account owner, can cancel it".
Cancelling an alallo job before training starts
An alallo job that you cancel before any training progress has been saved costs nothing. All reserved tokens return to your balance.
Cancelling an alallo job during the estimated time range
When you cancel an alallo job before the upper end of its estimated time range, you pay for the training completed so far, and the rest of the reserved tokens returns to your balance. alallo counts the training completed up to the job's most recent saved checkpoint (the "Checkpoint every N steps" setting decides how often progress is saved). Once training progress has been saved, the job's start fee of 1M tokens is also charged. For example, if you cancel a 1,000-step job after its checkpoint at step 400, you pay about 40% of the training part of the price plus the 1M token start fee.
Free cancel when an alallo job runs past its estimated time
The estimated time shown before you start an alallo job is a range, for example "40 min to 1.3 h". If the job is still running after the upper end of that range, counted from the moment you started the job, you can cancel it for free: all reserved tokens return to your balance, including the tokens for the training already done. [TBD: whether the dashboard shows when free cancelling becomes possible.]
Failed alallo jobs cost nothing
An alallo job that ends with the status "failed" costs nothing: all reserved tokens return to your balance. This covers every failed job, including "Not available right now", "Training failed", "Failed. We've been notified and are looking into it.", and jobs that alallo stops because they reached a limit ("Stopped: the budget was reached" or "Stopped: the time limit was reached"). [TBD: confirm that failures caused by the customer's own data or settings, such as a wrong column name, stay free.]
Repeated work is never charged by alallo
alallo may move your job while it runs to keep it running. The job then continues from its most recent saved checkpoint. You never pay for repeated work.
What a finished alallo job costs
When an alallo job finishes successfully, alallo charges exactly the quoted price. The reserved tokens become the charge; nothing more is taken from your balance.
Refunds of alallo token top-ups
[TBD: whether unused purchased tokens can be refunded to the card, and under which conditions; whether tokens expire.]
